You'll only ever get one attempt to clear a temple, if you fail then you'll be moved on to a new procedurally-generated tunnel. Each of these unique temples shows up for a variety of players who will all try to complete the map. With your trusty whip in hand you'll aim to reach further and further into the temple by picking up keys, and unlocking new boons from the Olmec deity that is trapped in the temple with you.

It may help you tackle some vertical challenges, navigate tall rooms, and reach ceiling treasure chambers, but those rooms are few and far-between compared to the more "horizontal" challenges, and all of these can still be Phantom Abyss Speedrun easily cleared with your whip and any of the movement blessings above.

Of course you can also use the thunder whip to run like Usain Bolt and leave him in the dirt, but even with it don't assume you'll never be bothered by him, especially if you try to go for chests.

Soul Armor's best use is as a panic button; if you find yourself overwhelmed with Guardians or traps, or are falling into a bottomless pit, activate your armor and get yourself to safety ASAP, because your invulnerability will not last very long. Your charges are limited, so don't just waste it on barreling through simple traps.

I understand that is due to the servers being reset but perhaps a forced progression reset wasn't the best idea.

As adventurers venture further into a temple, offerings of collected treasures can be made at altars to gain a new blessing for the rest of the run. Collect as much treasure as you can to please the gods and gain a double jump, glide jump, extended slide, damage protection, and more!

Armed only with a whip and your guile, you get one attempt, and only one person in the world will succeed at clearing any given temple. If you successfully claim a relic, that exact temple configuration is locked forever, serving as a trophy of your victory. There’s pelo fear of running out of temples, however, as there are countless ruins with unique layouts, thanks to Phantom Abyss

Freedom of movement is critical in this game, and the Wings blessing grants you ridiculous amounts of horizontal distance while also negating fall damage due to its slow-falling effect.
